8/4/2011– Dow off 513 points! Keeping your money at home makes more sense than ever!

By Alan Pikul

Today we saw a huge run from equities and a rush to safer havens…...but where are the safer havens? Most economists would say to Gold or precious metals, maybe commodities. Others would say to keep your money in cash. We at Apco believe strongly that keeping you money at home  is your best bet. No, we don’t mean burying your money in cans in the backyard but rather investing in your own sort of infrastructure projects.

There are business renovations, additions, remodels, and other types of projects where your money can be invested and receive a sizeable return. Today maybe it makes more sense to invest in your own business rather than taking a risk in stocks and bonds and leaving your money in a volatile market. Investing in yourself  is a precious commodity…...try it out….we think you’ll like what you see!

8/8/2011-Markets reeling after another day of losses!

By Alan Pikul

Americans are certainly concerned over the recent debt talks taking place in Washington these past weeks, but what does that mean for the average Joe?

Consumers should be concerned about how their tax dollars are spent. For the time being, not much will change. In the long term many changes are coming down the pipe and although the majority of folks won’t feel anything now their portfolios will certainly take a hit as investors begin to run for safe havens in Gold, precious metals, and long term treasury bonds. Our best advice is to stay put and try to wait out the storm of uncertainty…..remember we are in America….we’ll get it figured out!

8/01/2011-So what does all this uncertainty mean? - By Alan Pikul

Americans are certainly concerned over the recent debt talks taking place in Washington these past weeks, but what does that mean for the average Joe? Well, no one completely understands not even the politicians who vote for them. One thing for sure…..change is on it’s way! For the average consumer, change will occur but since most Americans don’t pay much attention to political rhetoric anyway the change won’t affect them. Now, with that said, many Americans such as senior citizens, government dependent families, government workers and others are most likely to feel the effects. Cuts to programs and jobs are likely to occur.

One of the motors that drives the economy is consumer confidence. If consumers are confident you’d better not sit on the sidelines because you may get passed over and lose opportunities that can actually save you boatloads of cash. In our business we actually recommend that our clients take advantage of the uncertain times because there are many deals to be made– Alan Pikul
